In 2021, the family-owned investment company, Kirk Kapital, delivered a record-breaking return on investment of DKK 1,546 million. The great result came from a return of DKKm 1,274 from strategic investments in several Danish and Nordic companies and a return of DKKm 358 from Financial Investments in listed equities, bonds, and alternatives.

“We are very pleased and proud to present the best investment result so far for Kirk Kapital. The result is way above what we expected for 2021”, says CEO at Kirk Kapital Kim Gulstad.

Within the strategic Investments, which amounts to DKKbn 4.4, Kim Gulstad highlights that there has been a broad underlying sound operational development in the portfolio of 13 companies. Furthermore, Kirk Kapital conducted successful divestments in 2021 of Globeteam and Exxit 59. Kirk Kapital also added new companies in the portfolio, through the acquisitions of shares in VivoMega and Ellepot. In addition, in 2022, larger minority stakes have been added in Norwegian Promon and Danish Cookie Information.

The financial investments amount to DKKbn 2.5, and in addition, DKKbn 5.7 are also invested for clients, where Kirk Kapital operates as external wealth manager.

“The positive return on our financial investments is primarily due to a large contribution from unlisted assets, which led to a result that was slightly above the market average,” says Kim Gulstad, who adds that Kirk Kapital´s role as external manager for external costumers has improved the quality of the financial investments and lowered relative investment costs.

“When looking at 2022, the start has been very uncertain primarily driven by the tragic conflict in Ukraine. However, we have entered the year from a strong position,” says Kim Gulstad.

Sustainability is now an integral part of Kirk Kapital´s strategy and the company´s operations and investments. In 2021, Kirk Kapital signed the UN Global Compact Principles and has prioritized working with four of the Sustainability Development Goals.
