Kirk Kapital and a group of shareholders acquire Mobilhouse from private equity firm Adelis. Mobilhouse is one of the country’s market leaders within temporary sustainable modular spaces.

Danish company Mobilhouse A/S was established in 1961, and for many years focused on producing, renting out and selling portable cabins. Since 2017, the company has shifted its strategic focus from portable cabins to rental of modular spaces for a variety of purposes, with specific requirements regarding functionality, indoor climate, aesthetics, and sustainability. Private equity firm Adelis has owned Mobilhouse since 2019. Kirk Kapital will own 50 per cent going forward, while Steffen Thomsen, Martin Mikkelsen and the management team will own the remaining shares.

Kim Gulstad, CEO of Kirk Kapital, welcomes the partnership with Mobilhouse.

“Temporary modular spaces are increasingly gaining ground as an effective and sustainable means of meeting the need for more space. Mobilhouse provides cost-effective and flexible solutions for this market. In addition, Mobilhouse is one of the few players on the market that can deliver modular buildings bearing the Nordic Swan ecolabel. We are therefore delighted to become a shareholder in Mobilhouse and intend to support a plan for Mobilhouse to invest significant funds in expanding its portfolio of sustainable modular solutions,” he says.

The customer base is made up of a broad portfolio of both public and private customers in Denmark. The modules can be combined and relocated as needed, often eliminating the need to build new permanent structures. Steffen Thomsen has been on the board of the company since 2019. In connection with completion of the transaction, Steffen will continue as a shareholder and become chairman of the board of Mobilhouse.

“With the strategic shift during recent years, Mobilhouse has now established a solid and scalable business, run by a capable management team. On behalf of Adelis, I would like to thank the management team and employees for their strong efforts these past years. At the same time, I look forward to continuing my involvement with the management team and the company, focusing on further accelerating the growth of the business in the coming years,” says Steffen.

Benny Møller will continue as CEO of Mobilhouse. He also looks forward to further accelerated growth for the company in the coming years.

“The level of activity at Mobilhouse has never been greater and I look forward to further acceleration in the coming years. Kirk Kapital and the rest of the shareholder group share our values and focus on developing a sustainable business. Their skills and approach to active ownership make them ideal partners going forward,” he says.

The transaction was signed and completed on 23 November 2022.
